Another one of the series of homes I designed for a couple who were friends well before we began designing their new home.
The owner was graphically minded having been in the music industry primarily working with CD covers as well as being an excellent photographer.
This gave me the confidence to create a very strong graphical home with strong forms and a repetition of cubes including the ‘hero’ rusty metal cage.
This was one of the first times where I was able to explore more fully the magic of natural weathering materials in large due to the clients who were naturally that way inclined.
The house eventually became a home for three boys to grow up in and the relationship to the jetty on the river meant that one found and never lost a passion for fishing. While close to town this home always felt that it was in the middle of an unbuilt natural environment and the family lived in it as if it was.
